About the Driving Theory Test
Before you are allowed to apply for a practical driving test, you are required to pass the driving theory test. The test is in two parts:
The first part has 50 multiple choice questions that is carried out on a touch screen computer at the theory test centre. I will give you plenty of help on your lessons towards your theory test and can recommend the best resources to help you to learn. The pass mark for the questions part of the test is 43 out of 50 or 86%.
After you have completed the questions, the hazard perception part of the test starts. This involves a total of 13 clips of film on the computer taken from the front of the vehicle showing the road ahead. There are a total of 15 scoring hazards (developing hazards). The maximum score for each hazard is 5 and so the total available score is 75 with a pass mark of 44 out of 75.
You need to pass both parts at the same time to achieve a pass.
The theory test centre at Northampton is at:
Suite 201, Sol House, St Katherines Street,
